School Backpack Program
Each fall, the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise provides backpacks for kids who otherwise would not have supplies for school. Sunrise Rotarians provide hundreds of backpacks filled with essential school supplies. These backpacks are distributed to needy children in the Chicagoland area.
The new backpacks filled with supplies are a fantastic way we welcome in the new school year!
Chairperson John Ball kicked off our annual project to collect backpacks and school supplies for the homeless and needy in Aurora and DuPage. Below is a list of suggested supplies. John Ball is looking for volunteers to take the time over the next two weeks to shop and fill one or more backpacks. He will see that they get distributed to the homeless shelters.
In past years, our club collected over 60 backpacks and made a real difference in the lives of a lot of homeless school kids.
Please bring your contributions to the August 14th meeting. Bring any combination of the following: a backpack containing school supplies, an empty backpack, and/or a check for $20 made out to "Hesed House."
